Did you know excessive workload contributes to 70 percent of leadership burnout
I did.
I lived it.
And now I help leaders engineer themselves out of it.
Workload is the silent killer.
Actually, no.
It is not silent at all.
It is loud.
It is messy.
It is ABSOLUTE overload.
Too many
• responsibilities
• priorities
• hours
• emotional labor moments
• pressures to always be on
And here is the part no one wants to admit.
It is all preventable.
Yes friend, lean in real close.
I am about to tell you the greatest leadership secret on earth.
You can prevent burnout.
82% of leaders say they lack work life balance.
Shocking right.
I do not need a survey to tell you that.
Your face tells me that.
Your tone tells me that.
And the email you sent me last night at 8 pm tells me that.
Conveniently after dinner and youth practice.
We have been talking accountability for weeks now.
That has not changed.
You still need to be accountable.
But you are also accountable to lead people.
In my presentation The Power of People: Hire Better. Train Smarter. Lead Stronger. we talk about hiring better and training smarter by letting your entire team be part of the onboarding process. You express your values. You express your vision. You show how the role fits into the future.
And then, hear me out on this part, you let them do the job you hired them for.
As trust grows, you give them opportunities.
Help on a project.
Take the lead on something.
Handle guest service issues and update you in a bi-weekly meeting.
When you put systems in place and let your team work inside those systems, when you align on values, when you set clear expectations and standards, you take things off your plate. You delegate. You breathe again.
It is a win for you because overwhelm drops. It is a win for them because they grow, feel trusted, and experience psychological safety.
Summer is here.
Do not let yourself or your team fall into the trap.
Stay focused.
Keep prioritizing.
Work together.
Keep values and vision in alignment every single day.
And if these are not on the header of your weekly team meeting agenda, you are wrong. Fix it.
What are you most looking forward to this summer
