Discovering My Unique Position to Empower Leaders

On a crisp, sunny Colorado fall day, I found myself in a constant rhythm: moving between my home office upstairs and the living room downstairs, where I guided my dad through the rigorous rehab process following his knee replacement. As the golden leaves rustled outside, my mind was equally in motion, absorbed in the teachings of the Brand Builders Group (BBG).

Throughout the program, one phrase reverberated in my mind: “You are most powerfully positioned to serve the person you once were.” Initially, it was a concept I struggled to fully grasp. Meanwhile, my dad relied on my guidance – ice packs, stretches, and exercises that I had once endured myself.

Every step of the way, my brain was a storm of thoughts, grappling with the BBG message while physically and emotionally supporting my dad. I knew his pain and his frustration because I had been there just months before. This dual focus was my crucible, where my patience and understanding were tested daily.

The breakthrough occurred a couple of days in. As I descended the stairs after a particularly enlightening BBG lesson, clarity struck. My dad’s journey mirrored my own six months prior. His progress was not just in physical recovery; it was a testament to my journey. This realization was profound: I had firsthand experience of guiding someone through a transformation because I had lived it.

As I watched my dad grow through this process hour by hour and day by day, I was reminded of my journey towards building teams, culture, and strategies to guide us far into the future. It was intriguing to recognize that what I find fun in the leadership journey, others may struggle with. This is a strong part of why I help leaders experiencing burnout build systems that create freedom for their teams to be empowered and flourish.

This experience revealed to me the essence of BBG’s message. I’m uniquely equipped to empower others—not in physical rehab, but in cultivating culture and enabling high-functioning teams. My personal struggles and victories became the foundation from which I can guide leaders to build resilient, empowered teams. It became clear that “The Story is in the Struggle,” and these shared experiences equip me to help others transform.

I am thrilled to embark on this new journey and serve as a resource for leaders seeking to build thriving cultures and teams. If you’d like to connect, learn more, or see how I can help you, reach out to me at www.jasonchadock.com or follow me on social media.
