This serves as a special time of year. A time when families and friends come together and celebrate with festive meals, beverages, sharing old memories while still creating new. Like many of you, we enjoy this season as well. These times have certainly been made more challenging given the COVID environment.
This year as we spoke with many family members via FaceTime I realized we’ve been doing this for years because we lived away from family. Now, being once again close to family, we still find ourselves celebrating this way in most cases. I say all this simply to highlight we can all stay connected through many platforms year round, not just the holidays. It’s a choice and it takes energy, planning, and effort. If it is important, you’ll make it happen. Think about that for a minute.
So often people at work or in sports tell me they are too busy to take on more and then later that week they say “oh I have a great opportunity for something and I just need to adjust my schedule a little”. My reaction is always the same, I see, you found something important to you, fantastic! How can we make the time to connect with one person a week? Think about the difference we can make through a year if we just get connected a little more. All the tools are there it doesn’t matter how far away we live. Effort, that’s all it takes.
The holidays have been different and fun at the same time. While we have not seen all the people we wanted too, we’ve found other meaningful ways to connect. We’ve also watched more Christmas movies this year than ever before! Not a bad thing.
The holidays are a time for giving thanks, giving, and sharing and creating memories. I now challenge us all to figure out a way to make 2021 like this and not just the holidays. How can we give more, do more, and be more? I know we can all accomplish this. I ask us all to our in the effort, society needs it. Be positive, be grateful, be together!
