Driving Leadership

Let’s take a moment to highlight a host of tag words every media outlet and article uses daily; unprecedented, uncertain, ambiguous, unknown, difficult, hard, and challenging times. These words sound as positive as the constant clicker of the death toll that media adds up every hour.

Yes, fear is made to run rapid through society because that’s what gets clicks. However, you still have a choice. Contrary to popular belief, yes, you can choose to live different. You do not need to focus on the negative. It won’t make you better nor will it help you guide the team you lead. This is not to say ignore what’s out there. Simply put, identify what is out there, look at solutions, and drive yourself and team to what is possible.

It’s easy to divest into fear and allow it to control your thoughts and actions. To lead, to overcome, one must put fear aside and seek the opportunity that lies within. Every tragedy, hardship, or obstacle also hosts its own opportunity. Finding the opportunity is what yields hope through the chaos. Some people are either mentally or physically crippled by fear or indecision. Leadership is helping that person find the available pathway and guiding them to it. You guide, not take, as they need to see it, believe it, and take it.

Opportunity gives hope, drives us to anticipation of better times, and guides us to possibility. Leaders, now is your time to meet people where they are, learn about what is driving or stalling them and ultimately, guide them. We cannot lead people to promise without meeting them where they are. We need to understand why they are there and where they wish to go. Leading and coaching is designed to guide someone from one spot, to another. Now, more then ever, people need the guidance. Be a leader and make a difference, we know you can do it!
