The time is now, not next week, next month, or in 2021. We are in a crisis as a society and the people we lead feel this on the home front, in their work, and through social media. In all communication avenues I hear people saying “oh I can’t wait until 2020 is over” as if everything magically goes away. Or, even better, once the election is done everything will go back to normal. I’ve got news for you; election is over and we’re still living in an altered 2020. Truth is, the world won’t return to “normal” and leaders need to rise up through this adversity and lead now.
We started the year with a 2020 vision and within 3 months it all changed. The fiscal plan has been destroyed. Our events and in person meetings, gone. Our leadership has been tested. How have we responded? If you feel your response has been good, team is excited and doing well, great! If your second guessing your decisions, know your team is struggling, and are not sure of the next step, now is your time for action. You owe it to the team and yourself to keep driving forward and look for viable solutions to issues.
Leaders that excel, do so through adversity. Encountering unique challenges, rallying a team together to develop solutions, and then the implementation of ideas, that’s leadership. You do not have to be the smartest person in the room to lead, in fact, the ones who can allow great people to do what they do best and simply guide the group forward are the successful leaders.
Leaders let people do what you hired them to do. Tell people to go be great. Listen to their ideas. Ask questions, not question them, and let them guide you through their strategic process. Allow people room to fail, fly, and win! Leaders, it has zero to do with being humble and 💯 to do with leading and trusting people. Push them to be great, trust them, and guide them.
You’re not alone, we’re always here to help, email us if you need a helping hand developing.
