We are living in unprecedented times, no playbook or manual exists for managing this pandemic. Our society has a mix of people living in fear and those choosing a path of faith. Both pathways have a belief in a future that has yet to happen. One mindset is debilitating while the other is enabling.
Fear looks into the future with a fixed mindset of all that can go wrong. Media today is focused on the negative insights of this pandemic. On a daily basis we are inundated with numbers of those infected and deaths. Fear can create mental anguish, can prevent you from focus, and lead to physical health issues.
Whereas, faith, believes in the future and all that is possible. This growth mindset drives us to overcoming adversity, developing new ideas, and looking at the positive such as all the people recovering. This is not to downplay all those that are suffering, it’s simply to say let’s do what we can as a society to lift up those around us.
In times of crisis, your character, leadership, and values are tested. Those that lead in faith do not compromise these assets, they allow them to thrive in the face of hard times and they serve as a directional compass. Leadership is not easy, neither is development. These things push us past our comfort zone and into a challenge that affords us an opportunity to grow.
If it was easy, everyone would be a leader and develop talent, we know it’s not and it takes dedication. Leaders make those around them better and they learn from those same people. Today, we need leaders more than ever.
On this Easter Sunday, we are reminded that He is risen. From the depths of tragedy, dying for our sins, He is risen. We to will rise and this too shall pass.
