Thankful

As I start this first blog, I think back to one year ago and the optimism I had for beginning this coaching business. Now, December 1, 2019 I look and think where on earth has this year gone? One opportunity didn’t go my way, many others did, and it’s been a tremendous year. However, I have learned that sometimes things don’t happen on your timeline and you need to adapt.

We live in a VUCA environment. VUCA meaning; Volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous. All these factors play into us needing to be adaptable to life each day. I have learned this through my professional life as a manager, football as a coach, and now as a coach of executives and leaders.

Have you ever felt like you did not adapt to a situation quickly enough, or at all? I have been there and it’s not fun. Sometimes you fall behind and other times you never get the opportunity. I am a firm believer that when opportunity presents itself it is too late to prepare. To have success we need to build a repertoire of skills to enable us to navigate many situations.

What are you doing today, tomorrow, or this week to become a stronger leader? More confident decision maker? A better developer of people? Become a better student-athlete? If you don’t have a definitive answer to this, I can help. You must develop a plan or be left behind in this quick moving VUCA environment. Coaching and mentorship provides opportunities for amazing growth and support along the way. Truly taking people FROM where they are now TO where they wish to be.

As I conclude this entry, I think back on 2019 and all the things I am thankful for and looking forward to on this Thanksgiving weekend. I am blessed to have my faith, wife and kids, a career that provides for my family, our home, friends and family, and to be an influencer and developer of others.
